Well, well! After much badgering and persuading I have finally crumbled and decided to blog my forthcoming trip…
The plan is to march out of Trieste, Slovenia in June 2009 and follow the route of the Red Via Alpina as it winds its way through the Alps on its way to France. Tragically, Europe lacks $2-a-day Nepalese Sherpa’s, so I’ll have to carry all of my own gear (tent, backpack, stoveĀ and a great big lump of a camera) so I know it’s going to be tough. Rather than aim to complete the whole trek in a single hiking season – which might diminish the pleasure of horsing ones ass over a major mountain range somewhat – I’ve instead set my sights on reaching Switzerland.
After that, and assuming my knees still work, I will fly to Perth, Australia and cycle to Sydney where I will live. But more on that nearer the time!
Interspersed with travel updates might well be some of my Pillars of Programming Wisdom *
Tchau!

Does this mean you are actually going to make more than one post this time?

I expect the majority of posts to be updates of what chocolate you have discovered

Graham’s chocolate tasting tour of europe.
My mate used to be in a Chocolate Appreciation Society. They would meet up every so often, eat chosen chocolate bars, then give each ratings on taste, texture, appearance etc. They once sent their feedback to Cadbury’s and got sent a load of chocolate in return.
